Dr. Yufen Yen has a D.M.A. in choral conducting and literature, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; M.M. in choral conducting, Tunghai University, Taiwan; a B.M. in voice performance, National Kaohsiung Normal University, Taiwan. A native of Taipei, Yen is an active choral conductor and her conducting has been well received both in Taiwan and in the United States. “She has great conducting gesture, very good, no tension at all and easy for singers to sing.” – Choral Maestro Dr. Joseph Flummerfelt.
Yen conducts choirs of all ages with a variety of repertoires. In addition, Yen had helped prepare opera choruses for the National Symphony Orchestra (Taiwan), the Taipei Symphony Orchestra, and Tunghai University. She is the music director of the Hampton United Methodist Church and the Cambridge Chinese Choral Society, conductor of the children’s Chinese choir at the MLK community school, and a devoted music educator in greater Boston area. Yen also a guest lecturer at the Massachusetts American Choral Director Association annual conference in the summer of 2017.
台灣台北市人，美國伊利諾大學香檳校區音樂藝術博 士，主修合唱指揮與文獻，為該校首位取得合唱指揮 博士學位的台灣籍音樂家。合唱指揮大師Dr. Joseph Flummerfelt 曾盛讚:「她具有絕佳的指揮動作，放鬆 且不緊繃，使歌手容易演唱」。不但以全額獎學金攻讀 博士班，也是該系多年來唯一面試當場錄取的博士生。合唱指揮師事 Dr. Fred Stoltzfus與 Dr. Chester Alwes，
聲樂師事 Cynthia Haymon 與 Ricardo Herrera。在台畢業於東海音樂系研 究所及高師大音樂系，合唱指揮曾師事梁秀玲、潘宇文，聲樂曾師事湯慧 茹、黃久娟。
目前任職HUMC與劍橋合唱團音樂總監，MLK社區學校兒童中文合唱 團，並於大波士頓地區教授音樂課程。曾接受美國合唱指揮協會麻州分會 之邀請，與該會的年會中舉辦講座。在台曾與國家音樂廳交響樂團與台北 市立交響樂團合作協助歌劇合唱團指導，同時擔任八所大學合唱團與國高 中音樂班合唱團指揮。
