After a long hiatus, the CCCS is excited for our upcoming outdoor performance on June 22nd, 2022 at Kendall/MIT Open Space (right next to the Kendall T Stop). Bring a blanket or folding chairs to enjoy an evening concert in the summer breeze. Free food from Bon Me while supplies last! Plan to arrive by 6:30pm and the concert starts at 7pm. The Cambridge Chinese Choral Society (CCCS), the premier Chinese-language choral group in the Greater Boston area, presents its 2020 New Year’s concert. Our music director, Dr. Yufen Yen, will lead the CCCS to perform its 2020 New Year’s concert “Home Is Where the Heart Is”, painting a picture of what “home” is to our members and audience through a heartwarming selection of choral music on themes of family, friendship, and community. The program will feature many contemporary compositions revolving around these themes, including The Seal Lullaby, Glow, and This Marriage by the well-known choral composer Eric Whitacre. Ubi Caritas by Ola Gjeilo, inspired by Gregorian chants, reflects upon our love for each other and for God, while Please Stay by Jake Runestad provides a powerful reminder that we can all make a difference to those around us battling their inner demons. The CCCS has also selected songs popularized by the Shanghai Rainbow Chamber Singers, such as the heartwarming remembrance in Grandma and the inner dialogue of a secret crush in I Like. Regardless of what “home” is to you, “Home Is Where the Heart Is” is definitely the concert of the year that you do not want to miss!
