MIT CCCS 2018 Winter Concert: Ancient Poetry, New Melodies
MIT Cambridge Chinese Choral Society (CCCS), the premier Chinese-language choral group in the Greater Boston area, presents its 2018 Winter Concert. Our Music Director, Dr. Yufen Yen, will lead CCCS to perform its 2018 Winter Concert “Ancient Poetry, New Melodies”, featuring a fantastic series of traditional and contemporary Chinese literature and poetry woven through the complexity of choral music. Whether you are a big fan of Chinese poetry or not, “Ancient Poetry, New Melodies” is definitely the concert of the year that you do not want miss!

[前事今聲] – 劍橋合唱團 2018 冬季音樂會，以音樂讀詩
劍橋合唱團今冬將帶來全中文曲目音樂會「前事今聲」，由顏毓芬博士指揮、鋼琴家林宜穎博士伴奏，呈獻黃友棣、周鑫泉、冉天豪三位分別在不同時期活躍於台灣的作曲家，擷取自過去一千兩百年來傳頌於中文世界的詩詞譜寫的作品。詩是故事的載體，兼有文字的精練與聲韻格律之美，不分古今，都是作曲家靈感的泉源。
本次上半場從唐詩宋詞到清代小說「紅樓夢」中出現的小曲，全為重視古典傳統、致力於以音樂弘道的黃友棣作曲；下半場有冉天豪作曲的「風、雪、戀、星」組曲，展現詩人徐志摩自由奔放的熱情；隨著時代的洪流推移，余光中在1970年代旅美期間對外呼應美國反戰潮流與台灣的民歌運動、對內懷抱中年離鄉的自我叩問，被周鑫泉譜成了茫茫風中的「答案」；張曼娟的短文小品「月光箋」，將現代都會裡難以投遞的幽微寂寞，寄託於唯一不變的圓滿。
今聲唱前事，回顧風雲，也聽風月。
